Medieval Bags with P. Henschke
The bags will be created using finishing techniques common in medieval times for finishing slits on clothing, so a contrasting facing is needed (it will be visible from the outside), lining for the bag, and a different insert, or it could be the same as the facing. Embroidery silks will be used as decorative stitching, and a small amount of embroidery. The medieval technique of creating cords and eyelets will also be taught to further embellish the bag. There will be a demonstration of differnt ways of making cords.
This project will be suitable to enter in the Guilds' 2012 Medieval Exhibition where it will be eligible for a prize for this class ROSE AND LILLIES - A 17TH CENTURY DESIGN FOR A PAPERWEIGHT with Di Fisher
A glass paper weight enclosing a rose and lillies embellished with stitches for detail, richness and texture, set in scarlet, pulled thread vase ornamented with queen stitch. On either side is a cluster of golden grapes. The design is based on a pattern from a 17th century band sampler and the array of sttiches typical of the period. Silk and metal threads are used but can be varied if you wish.
This project will be suitable to enter in the Guild's 2012 Medieval Exhibition where it will be eligible for a prize for this class ELIZABETHAN FANTASY 1 BIRD AND GRAPES with MAREE TALBOT
This design is typical of the Elizabethan period featuring a bird under a fruiting tree of grapes and lily surrounded by various insects, creatures and scrolls of gold stitched in Gumnut yarn silks. You will learn to extend your knowledge of detached buttonhole allowing you to achieve unique three dimensional effects with the use of wires. The piece for this class can be framed or mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an embroidered Elizabethan casket which is to be done over a two to three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for one of the doors on the fron of the casket.
OR ELIZABETHAN FANTASY 2 HARE AND STRAWBERRIES
This Elizabethan design features a hare under a fruiting tree of strawberries and lily surrounded by various insects, small creatures and scrolls of gold worked in Gumnut Yarn silks on a linen background.
This project allows the ladies to build on the techniques and skills they have learnt in the previous Elizabethan workshops and introduces them to the skills required to stitch small animals in detached buttonhole. The piece for this class can be framed or mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an embroidered Elizabethan casket which is to be done over a two to three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for one of the doors on the front of the casket KNOT GARDEN with C Thornton and J Steffensen

This is designed to be a stress free fun day spent relaxing and creating your work of art! This piece could be used as the centre of a cushion, set in the lid of a box, a pincushion, as the background for a clock or simply framed This project will be suitable to enter in the Guild's 2012 Exhibition where it will be eligible for a prize for this class ELIZABETHAN FLORAL SCROLLS with MAREE TALBOT
This is a typical Elizabethan design featuring coiling stems of gold, enclosing flowers, insects and small creatures stitched in Gumnut Yarn silks on a linen background. This project allows the ladies to build on their embroidery techniques and skills. The piece for this class is a stand alone piece and can be framed and mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an embroidered Elizabethan casket which is to be done over a two to three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for the side panels on the casket.
ELIZABETHAN TREE OF LIFE CASKET TOP PANEL with MAREE TALBOT
This is a typical Elizabethan design with a tree of life as the central feature surrounded by an abundance of amall animals, flowers and plants. This piece has been designed to compliment the other panels of the casket. It is stitched in Gumnut Yarn silks on a linen background.
OR ELIZABETHAN PEACOCK AND POMEGRANITE
Alternative class for people not doing the casket
This elegant design features a peacock sitting on a branch of gold surrounded by pomegranites and small creature, displaying his magnificent tail feathers. The piece, stitched in shades of green, turquoise, purple and peacock blue has been embroidered using Gumnut Yarn silks on a linen background.
