The Guild's Classification and Thesaurus is maintained by Iris Major (last revision 2009). Edited sections are presented here.
The Classification and Thesaurus has as its basis the following two classification tools which were devised for and used by the Guild's Museum and Library for many years.
Maureen Holbrook's Classification of Embroideries for the Embroiderers' Guild Museum of South Australia (1991) provided the substance of this document.
Peg Saddler's original Library Classification has been expanded to accommodate the depth of material being added to the collection.
The one and two lettered subject classification has been retained for its simplicity of use. This classification code is used in the Library, in combination with an accession number and copy number to provide a unique label (call number) for each item.
