South Coast Branch
The branch was formed in 1991 and our members come from across the Fleurieu Peninsula – Yankalilla, Normanville, Strathalbyn, Clayton, Goolwa, Pt Elliot and Victor Harbor.
We currently have over 40 members some of whom are very experienced embroiderers and some who are very much beginners.
New members and visitors are always welcome at our meetings.
Membership & Subscription
Membership is two tiered. Branch members must first be members of the Embroiderers’ Guild of SA, which comes at a reduced cost for country members and is due in June. In addition to this, branch membership is payable directly to the branch and covers the room hire, newsletter, library purchases and incidentals. It is due in October, and pro-rata rates apply for both memberships for new members.
With your state membership a monthly copy of the ‘Review’ is sent to you. A branch newsletter, ‘Through the Eye’, is published bi-monthly. A programme and calendar of meeting dates, classes and workshops is included in the newsletter. The branch has a comprehensive library and members may borrow books for 1 month at a time. Books may also be borrowed from the Guild in Adelaide.
From 9.30 am – 3.00 pm every 2nd & 3rd Thursday of each month from February to November,
the 2nd Thursday of December and 3rd Thursday of January.
Business meetings are held regularly on the 2nd Thursday at 10.00 am.
We meet in the Founders’ Pavilion of the Southern Agricultural Show Society’s Port Elliot Showgrounds, Cameron Street, Port Elliot.

Back to Basics
Free instruction is given by a volunteer branch tutor. This is a structured programme exploring a variety of stitches and designed to teach the construction of items after they have been embroidered.
These classes are held locally.
Classes & Workshops
Country members are able to enrol in classes, on a range of topics, given by paid Tutors and held at the Guild in Adelaide. Classes can be arranged locally if sufficient branch members show interest.
Workshops are held on the 3rd Thursday and visitors can take part by payment of a small fee. Members not participating in workshops are encouraged to come and stitch on their own projects.
