Stitch a Bag with The Education Committee

If time or lack of experience are slowing down your journey to make your own bag, either for yourself or for the Guild, please join the Education committee to make a bag.

Participants will need to bring their own supplies and pattern, and a sewing machine (must be tagged as safe).

There are a lot of free bag patterns on the internet. By downloading your own pattern there is no breach of copyright. We will not be selling any patterns.

We will be demonstrating a zipper pocket if people want to add one.

If you cannot download and print a pattern prior to the class there will be some patterns available for use on the day.

The patterns that will be available will include:

  • The magic box pouch pattern by Mommy Made. Peta Stuart has made the pattern based on the instructions provided on the Mommy Made website. (Suitable for those who are familiar with their sewing machine)
  • An easy, lined, tote bag based on the information found on the “How to Make a Tote Bag: Easy Sew Ideas for a Custom Bag” on HGTV. We will add a zipper pocket. This bag is suitable for students who are beginners to using a sewing machine.

A requirements list will be given to those paying in advance who would like to make either of these bags.

Bring your own lunch – a yummy morning tea will be provided.
