Do you know which needle, thread or fabric to use on your project?
Are you familiar with the various stitches used by embroiderers? Do you know the different uses of the various frames available? Beginners Chinese Silk Embroidery with Margaret Lee
Chinese ‘Su’ Embroidery is considered the finest among the various Chinese embroidery styles. The traditional techniques and, more importantly, the practical application of these techniques have resulted in unsurpassed embroidery artistry in the genre of thread painting. In this foundation level class, students will be introduced to and practise basic of techniques of this famous style of embroidery.

Using creative canvas stitches and beads, stitch a small box top.

MayCords and Tassels with Gay Sanderson
Would a simple cord and/or tassel just finish off your embroidery? This is the class for you!! Students will make basic twisted cords using 1,2,& 3 different colours. You will also learn to make a finger cord and different methods for making and finishing tassels including a beaded tassel.

For centuries architecture has been the inspiration for embroideries. Based upon 15th century wrought iron window grills and tile patterns and interpreted using simple stitches, the repeat patterns are suitable for all types of household items.
Filet Lace with Margaret Morgan
The workshop project will include the basic filet lace stitches, but the main focus of the workshop will be on experimentation with a number of different filet guipure stitches. Students will be encouraged to adapt the workshop sample, to create their own individual embroidery.

Japanese Bead Embroidery is a companion art to Traditional Japanese embroidery. Techniques used are based on the principles of Japanese embroidery. At this entry level, participants will learn foundational principles and techniques through a small project, which can be made up into a project of your choice. You will be guided on this in class. The sample is made into an eyeglass case.

Learn to Embroider 2 - Various Guild Tutors
Have you done Learn to embroider 1 and still have questions? Bring them along and we will try to answer them.
Do you know how to bind a hoop? Do you know how to put the fabric into an embroidery hoop? Do you know how to centre your design on your fabric? Two simple projects will be started: 1 A small canvas work suitable to make into pincushion. 2 A small surface stitchery project suitable to frame or use as a book cover. If you answered ‘No’ to any of the above questions then this is a workshop for you Paper, Paint, Stitch Collage with Samantha Pope
Paper is a flexible medium for embroidery and this workshop will teach you several techniques for embellishment that can be translated into a variety of projects.
Paper pulp is cast into a relief design using a rubbing plate. Shimmering paint is used to highlight the embossed design then organza is free hand machine embroidered over the top to highlight design lines. The piece is heat zapped to melt away some of the layers of organza and reveal the colour underneath. Finally, bold hand embroidery and delicate beading complete this layered work. Blue elegance - an introduction to crewel work. If you know your basic surface embroidery stitches and want to venture into the fascinating world of crewel embroidery, this class will extend your stitch vocabulary and introduce you to the laid trellis fillings often associated with traditional Jacobean crewel work.
